The origin of the property dates back to 1638. At that time, Léoville was the largest domain in the Médoc domain. Since then, it has fragmented into several plots of land over time. Léoville Poyferré's grand vin legacy began in 1840, fifteen years later it will be consecrated as the second classified growth. Didier Quuelel has managed the fate of this pearl since 1979. Cabernet Sauvignon wines shows a strong body, high acidity and high levels of tannins. A bouquet is very intensive, with black berries and spices. Very often these wines has great aging potential.
Saint Julien is the smallest appellation in Médoc and is situated between Pauillac and Margaux combining both of these excellent but different appellations. Cabernet Sauvignon, Petit Verdot, Merlot and Malbec grapes are mainly used. Northern wines are heavier and contain more tannins whilst wines form the southern part are softer and silkier. There are 11 wine houses from the 1855 classification which produce wine that is considered to be of outstanding quality.

Bordeaux is known for a commerce praxis called en primeur - it means that a buyer can purchase wines immediately after harvest and prior to production for a substantially lower price, thus obtaining the opportunity to sell them for a larger profit later in the future. Bordeaux wines can be described as big, complex and with a strong character, but very friendly at the same time so that each and every wine lover could find something tasty and suitable for a great wine night.
