Cantina GiardinoAll products from this vendor
Cantina Giardino winery was created by six friends with the aim of preserving the old vineyards and the typical grape varieties of Irpinia and the surrounding regions. Under the direction of Antonio and Daniela di Gruttola, the grapes are harvested in 16 unusual vineyards. From the very beginning, the task was to use the grapes of older bushes (50+ years), grown by local contadini (growers), who have worked on their land for many generations, but today were forced to leave their native lands. The region's characteristic grape varieties Aglianico, Coda di Volpe, Greco and Fiano are used to produce an extensive and ever-evolving range of reds, whites and rosés, which are bottled with colorfully recognizable labels created by local artists. The vinification process is unique to each vintage. Antonio has a wide variety of wine aging utensils and vessels, including oak and cherry barrels, stainless steel tanks, fiberglass containers and Daniela's amphorae. Every year Antony creates a wine corresponding to his feelings. Aglianico grapes tend to age longer, but the production process for each wine is different. Sulfur is added as needed, but it is usually bottled as is.
AglianicoAll products from this varietal
Aglianico is a red wine grape variety which gives well structured wines that show musky berry flavors with rich tannins, relatively high acidity and good aging potential.
When it comes to nature this region is very rich - it has a blue sea, a mild climate and a fertile soil. All this creates the perfect conditions for winemaking and allows the production of a wide wine variety from dry and sweet to sparkling and fortified wines. Campania produces wine of all three quality control categories - DOC, DOCG and IGT. A wide diversity of varieties is allowed, but the main grape is Aglianico which produces rich red wines that absorb all the nature's abundance.
